The Liberty County Health Department will hold a
drive-through flu vaccine clinic Oct. 30 at the Shuman Recreational Center in Hinesville. Vaccines will be administrated from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The recreation center is located at 800 Tupelo Trail and appointments are not needed. The cost for both the injectable shot and nasal spray is $25.
High dose flu vaccines are also being offered for people aged 65 and older and will be $40 per dose.
Cash, check, Medicaid, Medicare, and State Health Benefit Plan will be accepted.
To save time, residents can download and complete the flu vaccine consent form by going to www.gachd.org/libery and clicking on the "Flu Vaccine Information" link.
The health department recommends a flu vaccine shot for everyone aged six months and older, and the shot is approved for use in healthy people six months of age and older, people with chronic medical conditions and pregnant women.
The nasal spray is approved for use in healthy people two to 49 years of age who are not pregnant.
Liberty County Health Department Nurse Manager Annie Washington, R.N. said in a statement the process couldn't be easier.
"We want to make it as easy as possible for our residents to get protected against the flu and it doesn't get much easier than not having to get out of your car," she said. "The process is quick and easy and the flu vaccine will protect you throughout flu season."
