SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A private investigator said he plans to sue the city of Savannah over what he claims was an ethics violation.

John Perry had submitted an open records request last year, requesting Alderman Tony Thomas' travel expenses. The city granted that request, but Perry said Mayor Edna Jackson required him to provide personal information such as his home address, telephone number and private investigator license. Perry said the mayor later shared that information. He said this violated the city's code of ethics and the Georgia Open Records Act.

The committee dismissed the case after Perry stormed out of a hearing.
