SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Charges are pending against a woman who struck a teenage boy who was walking on the sidewalk Friday morning near Windsor Forest High School.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said a 15-year-old Windsor High student was walking north along the west edge of Largo Drive when he was struck at 7:33 a.m. Friday by a 2007 Ford Fusion driven by Jeanenne Marx, 54, going south near Winwood Drive.

The 15-year-old suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment.

WTOC was told speed was not a factor in the incident, but residents say they are constantly seeing traffic incidents along the stretch of road due to speeding and congestion.

Residents say drivers run up the side of Largo Road all the time and they're trying to do something about it.

Chris Barbieri, chairman of the Windsor Forest Association traffic committee, said they are working with city and county committee to slow down traffic and make people more aware.

"A lot of people don't realize it takes more than a car-length to slow down," Barbieri said.

The Major Accident investigation Team continues to investigate.
