Annual Savannah Folk Music Festival wraps up

Posted: Updated:

The 24th annual Savannah Folk Music Festival wraps up Sunday from weekend full of music.

The festival began on Friday in Ellis square and finishes in Historic Grayson Stadium on Sunday. The event showcased the quality and diversity in musical talent found among members of the Savannah Folk Music Society, in performances ranging from Traditional, Old Time, Blues, International, Folk Revival and Contemporary music.

"You know, one thing is Savannah, we have tons of stuff; every day's a festival. But, these are one of the established old festivals, you have the jazz festival at almost 30 years and us at nearly 25. There are new pop up ones coming, but they're all about generating money, we're about listening. We bring some of the best artists in the world here for you to see for free. Where can you get that? Not many towns." said Chris Desa, President of the Savannah Folk Music Society.

Organizers say they usually start planning the festivals up to a year and a half ahead of time, in fact the list of performers is already set for next year.
