Lady's Island restaurant robbed

LADY'S ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a Lady's Island restaurant early Sunday morning.

Deputies responded just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday to an armed robbery at McDonald's 177 Sea Island Pkwy. Employees told deputies that the store had just been robbed by two unknown black males.

One employee said he had been working on the roof when he saw two masked men approach another employee at the back door of the store. One of the men brandished a handgun and forced the employee inside the store, according to the sheriff's office. Shortly after that, a gunshot was fired and both suspects ran off.

Five employees were inside the store when the robbery occurred. They said the suspects rounded them up and the other directed a manager to the safe and register, according to the BCSO. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and several of the employees' cell phones. The employees were forced into a walk-in freezer. Suspects fired a shot and took off.

No one was injured. The suspects were described as black males between 17-25 years old with a similar build. Both were about 6'and weighed 175 lbs. One was wearing a dark shirt, camouflage pants, and a red baseball hat. The other was wearing a dark shirt and pants and a baseball hat with lime green on it.
