New fire plan could lower ISO ratings in Jasper Co.

JASPER CO., SC (WTOC) -

Jasper County Emergency Management Director, Wilbur Daley, has created a "fire plan" that he says could save homeowners hundreds of dollars each year on homeowners insurance.

Daley says if the county hires more firefighters and purchases new equipment needed to fight fires, it could lower the county's ISO rating from a class 9 to a 5, and homeowners would save approximately $341 a year. He estimates that more than 3,000 buildings are affected by the rating.

Daley wants to purchase five tanker trucks.

How much will this cost the county?

Daley says the new fire plan could cost the county more than one million dollars.
