PORT ROYAL, SC (WTOC) -

Some people are just survivors, no other way to describe them.

That's certainly the best way to describe one business owner in Port Royal.

She lost her business in a tragedy and has overcome cancer twice, but Wednesday, on her birthday, she has more to celebrate than to lament.

Nancy Vista seemed to be laying low Wednesday but her friends are making sure to show her the birthday love.

"You know, I woke up this morning and I feel blessed to be here, to be celebrating," she said.

And there's a lot to celebrate on her 53rd birthday.

Vista has come full circle with her entrepreneurial goals.

Through the years, she's worked as a professional photographer, floral arranger, landscape and golf course designer. That led her to open a home and garden store in 2003 in Port Royal.

But two years ago, a fire destroyed her store, "Nuances."

She was also going through her second battle with cancer.

"In the past, I've been very, very fortunate that it was caught very early," said Vista.

And no matter what obstacles came her way, Nancy always took a 'no worries' approach, choosing instead to stay positive and surround herself with her family and friends.

"She always encourages you, if you're having problems in business or physical, she's always there to give you that 'thumbs up, you can do it,'" said Carol Poore, a business associate and friend.

That kind of support will be vital now more than ever because Vista is fighting cancer once again--her third bout with the deadly disease.

But this creative, energetic woman, who lives life to the fullest, is confident she'll beat it again.

"I don't think my time on this earth plane is limited…I've already figured it out, I have to live to like 130 to do everything I want to do," said Vista.

And that means more birthdays to celebrate at "Nuances" in the future.

"Nuances" reopened on Saturday, October 12th and the new store is located at 703 Paris Avenue in Port Royal.
