Traffic is being rerouted through downtown Savannah after a CAT bus triggered a sinkhole. It happened around 3pm at the intersection of Broughton and Price Streets. Police roped off a one-block area while a tow truck lifted the bus out of the hole.
City workers say heavy rains washed out the ground right underneath Broughton Street. Making it easy for something like this to happen.
Savannah facilities maintenance director Billy Jones said, "We have cave-ins, but they're not always this dramatic as a bus tire getting caught in it. We normally find them by the depression in the pavement."
Police will be rerouting traffic around the intersection of Broughton and Price for at least the next two days while repairs are being made.
