LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

Lee County authorities are searching for a gunman after a deputy's patrol car was shot at late Monday night.

Officials say while GBI and Lee County Sheriff's Department continued to investigate the fatal shooting on Pine Avenue in Leesburg that happened earlier in the afternoon, they heard 5 shots fired nearby. Several deputies then responded to the scene just a few streets over where they discovered the deputy's patrol car with one bullet hole near the side window behind the driver's seat.

The deputy was not injured and was sent home. Officials say they believe the two shootings are related. The description of the gunman is unknown at this time but officials say they are seeking help from neighbors.
