Police seeking bank robbery suspect, establish perimeter along I-20

KILGORE, TX (KLTV) -
Police have set up a perimeter with canines along Interstate 20, from Highway 135 to Highway 42, in Kilgore after a bank robbery at Bank Texas Tuesday afternoon.
A suspect armed with a knife approached a female teller at the bank, located inside Gateway Travel Plaza, just before 12:30 p.m. The suspect was able to make off with an unknown amount of cash from the bank on foot. The suspect is described as a white male, who is approximately 50-years-old. He is wearing blue jeans, a light gray hoodie and a dark gray toboggan. He is described as tall, with a thin build.
A DPS trooper saw the suspect along Interstate 20 before he had been notified there was a robbery.
The FBI, Kilgore Police Department, Longview Police Department, a Department of Public Safety helicopter, the Gregg County Sheriff's Department and a Drug Enforcement Agency unit are on scene. Five K-9 units are also on scene trying to pick up a scent.
No one was injured during the robbery. The BankTexas location remains closed Tuesday afternoon.
Anyone who may have spotted this suspect or anyone who has information on this crime is urged to call 911 immediately. The Kilgore branch is one of ten BankTexas locations in East Texas. BankTexas President and COO Troy Robinson said this is believed to be the first robbery in the bank's 120 year history. He said it is definitely the first robbery in the 33 years he has been with the bank. Robinson added that all bank employees are safe.
