The U.S. Dept. of Labor is offering $30,000 in scholarships to low-income young people in the Savannah area at its new office at 18 Commerce Place.
The new office is offering the scholarships who qualify as part of its partnership with CHP International. They train low-income people ages 16-24 on educational, social and professional skills at no cost. Scholarship recipients also receive a stipend. They offer 160 career training programs, a high school diploma or GED or advanced training program, according to a news release.
Eighty scholarships will be issued this month. Interviews are being conducted each day during November at 18 Commerce Place. For more details on the scholarship, call Bernard McKenzie, the Outreach Admissions counselor at 912.373.2510 or email him at McKenzie.Bernard@jobcorps.org.
