SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Criminal Investigations Division detectives are looking into possible ties between a homicide and a suicide.

Police say Jessica Nowell was found shot to death in her bed around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Officials believe her boyfriend, Justin Baldwin, shot her and then drove to a relative's house on Savannah's east side and shot himself.

The couple, both 24 years in age, lived at Crossroads Apartments on West Montgomery Cross Road in Savannah. Friends say that after more than three years of living together, Nowell had decided to pack her bags and leave Baldwin.

Nowell's bags were found in the front seat of her car. Police say the cases do appear to be related.

Officials with the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Dept. confirmed on Thursday that Baldwin died from his injuries.

SCMPD Violent Crimes detectives continue to investigate. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at 912.234.2020 or text CRIMES (274637). Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

A confidential Tip Line also is open directly to investigators at 912.525.3124.
