Classes for federal healthcare mandate set for next month

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Free classes are being offered on how to navigate the new Affordable Healthcare Act and its requirements.

Under the federal law, Americans will be required to have health insurance in January.

The classes will provide details about the federal healthcare exchange, how to shop for a healthcare plan, explain the different levels of the plans available, catastrophic, bronze, gold and platinum and the availability of tax credits.

Items to be covered in the classes:

  • Can you keep a doctor?
  • Will the government help pay for your plan?
  • How much will your health insurance cost?
  • Difference in cost in the plans.

More free classes will be offered for Open Enrollment Assistance. Agents will be able to speak to those who don't have Internet access.

The hourly classes will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Coastal Georgia Education Center. The classes are being held by Bill Lucas Insurance and Mickey Rountree Insurance Agent.
