Juror removed in GA mobile home slayings trial

Posted: Updated:

A juror has been removed in Georgia mobile home slayings trial in Glynn County and is starting over. Juror 308, an alternate, is now on the jury.

The judge has ordered the new jury to begin new deliberations. It appears that removed juror was possibly Juror 152, who state prosecutors had requested be removed from the jury, is now gone.

Guy Heinze Jr., 26, is charged with the slaying of his father, aunt, uncle, cousins, and a family friend during a drug-induced rage in 2009. He had pleaded not guilty to all charges, and he could face the death penalty if convicted.

A bailiff told the judge that Juror 152 made a comment about not being able to convict Guy Heinze Jr., 26, based on evidence presented, but the judge ruled the juror would stay.

There 15 jurors and three are alternates. One woman was excused due to a knee injury earlier in the week. The jury is made up of mostly women.

The jury was deadlocked in a 9-3 on Wednesday afternoon. The judge had ordered them back into deliberations, which wrapped up just before 8 p.m. Wednesday.
