"It is about competence, but it is mostly about character. So what Pete Jones brings that many of his piers that weren't selected is a true sense of selfless service, a true concern for his soldier, a true concern for the mission and the division, honor integrity, personal courage. All the things that are our values that we live by. It is really what separates colonels from brigadier generals, " said Major General John Murray.
