SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A huge celebration at First African Baptist Church on Montgomery Street.

They were honoring their oldest member Mrs. Corinthia Manigault who will turn 100 years young on Monday. She is a long time resident of the east Savannah neighborhood.

Sunday the church held a special service to honor their beloved church member.

"Oh, I feel wonderful, it's a blessing to be 100 years old," said Manigault.

"I felt that she deserved this, I met her during the inauguration of President Obama. We wanted to find the eldest person that lived in Savannah, who lived through the civil rights (movement) and helped through the civil rights and was able to see the first black president. and, I met her and we became friends, love at first sight, and now she's my grandmother, so," said Davita Capers-White.

Mrs. Manigault has served as a disciple of First African Baptist Church for more than 80 years.
