Community gathers for Warriors for William 5k

RICHMOND HILL, GA (WTOC) -

Lots of folks gathered together in Richmond Hill to help in the fight against childhood cancer.

Over a thousand people showed up at J.F. Gregory Park Sunday to participate in the Warriors for William 5k event. The parents of 3-year-old William Webb are doing everything they can to help their son fight cancer, but it's not just any cancer.

William was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma this past March, a kind of cancer that will require aggressive therapy in hopes of beating the unfavorable odds.

The event included many family fun activities including a costume contest, face painting, Disney characters, and food, followed by a half mile fun run and the 5k.

"I think it is wonderful. I think it is a great opportunity for people to come out and show how they already feel. I think want to support this family and the community and so I think it is a great opportunity for them to be able to show up and actually do that," said Catherine Grant, Race Director.

William's father is a Pediatrician and has posted their trying journey on Facebook on his *Prayers for William Webb" page. To visit that page click here.
