Hilton Head Councilman
George Williams said plans to build a new waterfront park at Shelter Cove have
been endorsed by the town's parks and recreation commission.
The plan, which
could cost up to $4.5 million, was approved by the commission at their meeting
last Thursday. The town council said they will split the cost for the park.
The design for
the new waterfront park is similar to Beaufort city's waterfront park. Plans
call for an outdoor pavilion, a playground, and a huge lawn area and other
Williams said the
next step would be for the Town Council to form a sub committee to review the
plans, then it would move to council for a vote.
If the Town Council
passes the plan, construction would most likely start sometime next year.
