CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Public School teachers became students for a day.

Middle and high school science teachers spent the day on Elba Island at the Southern L.N.G. Gas Plant. Teachers learned more about the properties of liquefied natural gas and what happens when it's exposed to the environment.

Emily Hawbaker from the Need Project thought it was a great opportunity for teachers.

"I think it was really great, and teachers got a lot of questions that they had answered as well as to share with others in the community what's going on here and to sort of continue the proper education of what happens here," she said.

The teachers also participated in hands-on activities that they will be able to take back to their classrooms and share with their students.
