BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

In the Lowcountry, school report card grades are out but not for students.

These are from the South Carolina Department of Education for each school district and individual schools.

Riverview Charter School is one of seven schools in Beaufort County that earned an "excellent" rating on this year's school report card.

The district as a whole earned a "good" rating for the first time ever.

Riverview Charter School has a lot to be proud of.

Its elementary and middle schools have earned that "excellent" score rating for the second year in a row.

"It's really wonderful to have the teachers validated for all their hard work, they just work so incredibly hard everyday," said Alison Thomas, Director of Riverview Charter School.

Students are proud of the achievement too.

"It's just a great school and it's a lot of fun," said Ella Hayward, a fourth grader.

The 2013 state report card was a first for Beaufort County in two areas: none of the it's schools ranked "at risk" or "below average" and the district as a whole scored at a "good" level.

"We're hopeful that can be sustained. A good rating is an improvement but we want to be excellent, we're not going to be satisfied until we are," said Jim Foster, Beaufort County School District.

Across the Lowcountry, all seven schools in the Hampton 1 District improved to an "average" or above rating.

Wade Hampton High, which earned the district's only "excellent"rating, had the second highest improvement in the state.

The Hampton 2 School District maintained a "below average" score for the second year in a row.

Schools in Jasper County improved this year but the district, however, still earned an "at risk" rating for the third consecutive year.

We contacted the school district but they wouldn't comment on their "at risk" rating Friday.

The Jasper County School District will be holding a news conference on Monday, Nov. 11 to discuss the school report card grade.
