Max was born in Holland in 2003. He was purchased from Enforcement K9 of Wilmington, NC in 2006. Max was a dual purpose K9, which was trained to find drugs, track people, clear buildings for hidden suspects, and apprehend suspects. During his career he was attributed to numerous arrest and convictions. He was nationally certified by the National Narcotic Detector Association, and the United States Police Canine Association. Max was awarded the top novice dog award in the 2010 spring USPCA trials for region 2, and qualified to appear in the national USPCA competition. Max was initially trained and handled by Lieutenant Tim McMillan for five years. Upon, Lieutenant McMillan's promotion Max was handled by Corporal Larry Middleton for one year until he retired at the end of 2012. Upon retirement Max came home to be a member of Lieutenant McMillan's family. Max took to retirement well enjoying playing with the family's English bulldog, and eating scraps from the families toddler. Even in retirement Max never lost his police instincts and once found marijuana while going for a walk in a park with Lieutenant McMillan.
