Woman dies after being struck by car near Savannah Mall

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating a fatal vehicle accident on Savannah's south side Monday night.

At 11:02 p.m., officers responded to an accident at the Abercorn Extension and Rio Road.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the traffic signal was green as Sara Kendricks, 55, drove westbound on Rio Road.

Jeanette Scott, 30, was crossing the Abercorn Extension on foot when she was struck by Kendricks' Honda CRV.

Scott was transported to Memorial University Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.

SCMPD's Major Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate.
