Foster parents of Mineola sex-ring victims reach agreement in court

The foster parents of victims of a sex ring in Mineola reached an agreement with authorities on Tuesday morning. Child Protective Services has taken custody of all four children in the home and asked that records not include the names of the teenage children in the case. The children will all be placed together through CPS.

The teenager and two others who were victims of the Mineola sex ring have been removed from the Cantrell's home. The Cantrells will also submit to random drug testing and will maintain visitation once a week for an hour if the children would like a visit.

The Cantrells are to maintain contact with CPS if there is a telephone or address change, and are not to have any contact with any criminals or drug users.

The next hearing is a status hearing, and will be on December 6, 2013. The witnesses in that case will be at that hearing by the judge's order.

Earlier this week a 16-year-old girl was removed from Margaret and John Cantrell's home in Wood County. The minor was a victim in the 2008 Mineola sex ring case, and the Cantrells had taken her into their care as foster parents. That teenager has accused the couple of abuse, both physical and emotional.

CPS says Margaret Cantrell called their office this week and demanded someone pick up the 16-year-old girl. They say Cantrell is refusing to accept parental responsibility of the teenager, who she has permanent managing conservatorship over.

CPS Public Information Officer Shari Pulliam says Margaret Cantrell is accused of physical and emotional abuse.
