GBI agents are building a case against a murder suspect Wednesday. They're questioning someone about the murder of an elderly Mitchell County man found shot to death Wednesday morning, but they haven't filed charges.  Family members of Joe Louis Williams want answers surrounding his death and want the person responsible put in prison.

Family members wait anxiously outside the gates at 8877 Honeysuckle Road in Baconton for answers in the death of 76 year old Joe Louis Williams. Shawn Williams says he was at work when he received a call from his niece that his father had been shot.

"Complete devastation, I love my dad of course, so in a situation like that quite naturally I broke down," said Shawn Williams.

GBI agents say the Mitchell County Sheriff's office responded to the scene around 9:30, and are seen here blocking the gate entrance to the home. Williams says a family friend found his father.

"From what I was told she came over here to check on my dad, and I'm not sure if she called on the phone or whatever and couldn't get him so she decided to come over and she found him here behind the shed," said Williams.

Williams says his father was a minister who loved to sing and worked hard at the family's pecan grove. He says it bothered him that his father lived alone.

"Number one it's a long ways out in the country, anything could happen out here," said Williams.

Williams says a stolen vehicle was burned on his father's property a few months ago.  Family members say they want the person responsible brought to justice.

"We don't want somebody to be falsely accused, just like I wouldn't want to be falsely accused. But we do want the person who committed this crime to be brought to justice," said Williams.

Justice that family members say may not bring them closure but would get a murderer off the streets.

GBI agents won't give us any details about that suspect. They will only say that the person lives in the general area of Williams home. We will continue to follow developments and let you know if GBI agents charge that suspect.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigating is investigating the case and issued this release:

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation responded to a request of a death investigation on November 13, 2013, at 8877 Honeysuckle Road, Baconton, GA, at the request of the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office. The body of Joe Williams, 76, of 8877 Honeysuckle Road, Baconton, was found at his residence with an apparent gunshot wound.  A suspect is in custody with charges forthcoming.
