MIDWAY, GA (WTOC) -

Four people were arrested in connection with a credit union robbery in Midway.

Randy Jones, Kendell Stevens, Durrell Jones and Demetrious Hall are being held at the Liberty County Jail in connection with the robbery of the Interstate Unlimited Federal Credit Union at 11199 E. Oglethorpe Hwy in Midway, according to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Steve Sikes said they are waiting for the FBI to formally charge them.

He said they are still investigating whether the robbery attempt is connected to the bomb threat that was called into Midway Middle School on Wednesday morning.

According to the Liberty County School System, authorities were called to the school at about 8 a.m. to investigate a car that contained a suspicious device. Midway Middle School was evacuated and students and staff were taken to a secure location nearby, according to the school district.

Parents then picked up children from Liberty County High School. Liberty Elementary School was placed on lockdown until authorities determined there was no immediate threat.

District officials said that parents were notified with an alert that all students and staff were safe. Superintendent Dr. Valya S. Lee said that the district sent out at least four alerts starting at 8:16 AM. Lee says an open line of communication is extremely important.

"I cannot speak about how important that is. They're the parents' babies. But while they are at our school, they're my babies.  I would want to be informed, and I would want to make certain that our parents are informed," said Dr. Lee.

The sheriff's office determined the device did not contain explosives.
