STARKVILLE, MS (RNN) – The Mississippi State Bulldogs (2-0) continued their winning ways at Humphrey Coliseum with a 78-55 victory against the Kennesaw State Owls Thursday.

MSU sophomore Fred Thomas returned to the team after a one-game suspension and scored 17 points. The suspension stems from participating in a non-NCAA sanctioned all-star game during the summer.

Mississippi State shot 46.7 percent from field goal range and 56 percent from the free throw line. The Bulldogs shot a dismal 8-for-23 in 3-point attempts.

The Owls (1-4, 0-1 road) were within four points at halftime, but were outscored 43-24 in the second half. Despite shooting more than 54 percent from the floor, the Owls lost by 23 points on the road. Sophomore guard Yonel Brown was the leading scorer for KSU with 15 points.

The Bulldogs' next game is against Mississippi Valley State on Nov. 19.
