Man apprehended after short foot pursuit, arrested on gun and drug charges

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Chatham County Sheriff's deputies apprehended Carlos Richardson, 19, after a short foot chase Monday.

Richardson, already on felony probation for fun and drug charges, was spotted by deputies in the 100 block of Michelle Street. When deputies tried to make contact with Richardson, he ran.

Deputies gave chase and observed Richardson throwing a gun over a fence. The weapon turned out to be a 9mm Glock with a 30 round extended clip.

After he was apprehended, deputies searched Richardson and found marijuana.

Richardson was transported to the Chatham County Detention Center. He will be charged with fleeing to elude, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana more than an ounce.

Additional charges could be pending.
