EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Bond has been set at $7,900 for an Effingham County mother still in jail after her son was found wandering the streets twice in one week.

Deputies say Jessica Ekern's 3-year-old son was found wandering the streets for hours without her knowing. This just three days after the boy was rescued from the woods following a search by multiple agencies last Tuesday.

Ekern's friends and family say she was studying long hours to be a paramedic. When her son went for a walk with the three family dogs, she had fallen asleep after sending the older children off to school.
