Citizens voice opinion about city ordinance

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah residents shared their thoughts and concerns Wednesday about a proposed ordinance to regulate carts and low speed vehicles on city streets.

Wednesday's meeting was the second of two meetings the city held to get input from residents.

"Some are in support of it," said Valeeta McDonald, director of Mobility and Parking Services. "Some are concerned about quality of life issues, noise, hours of operation, the aesthetics and culture of the historic district, the numerous vehicles we already have in the historic district. The situation we discovered goes beyond just the historic district. We found a lof of people have these vehicles they use for personal use."

The feedback from the meetings will be reviewed by the Tourism Advisory Committee before the ordinance is presented to the city council for formal consideration.
