Flames are now out on a tanker that ignited into a fireball after it collided with a pickup truck on Ga. 17 at Marlow Road in Effingham County.
The tanker was carrying 8,800 gallons of fuel, according to the tanker driver. He is OK and spoke to WTOC's Don Logana after the crash.
All lanes on Ga. 17 between Courthouse Road and Guyton will be closed until further notice, according to the Effingham County Sheriff's Office.
Drivers are being asked by the sheriff's office to avoid Ga. 17 between Courthouse Road and Guyton. Nearby homes have been evacuated.
