Marne Week festivities continue

FORT STEWART (WTOC) -

Marne Week festivities continued Thursday on Fort Stewart in celebration of the Third Infantry Division's 96th birthday.

Dogface soldiers competed in several events, including the Modern Army Combatives Tournament, crossfit, flag football, swimming , and track & field.

"It's about bringing the division together as a whole, raising morale, because it's pretty depressing normally. So it's exciting." said SPC Latoya Reed.

The Third ID came to Fort Stewart in 1996, but its roots trace back to 1917 at Camp Green, North Carolina.  Within a few months they'd make their historic stand at Paris, earning the moniker "The Rock of the Marne".
