BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Alabama head coach Nick Saban says it was emotional for his senior players as they faced their last home game of the season.

The Crimson Tide took on the Chattanooga Mocs on Saturday. After winning 49-0, Saban talked to the press about the importance of the game.

"Pretty emotional day today for a lot of those guys. There's a lot of guys in the senior class, for whatever reason, the University of Alabama, the football program, means a lot to them," said Saban during the opening of the press conference.

The coach said the game was emotional for him, because many of the senior were highly valued by the UA football program.

"About the game, we really wanted to go out and play well for those guys. Obviously, there's some things that we could have done better, but I was pleased with some of the progress that we made, the way we tried to compete in the game," said Saban.

Coach Saban noted that he was happy to play some of his depth and give the less experienced players some time on the field.

"We got to play a lot of players, which I think was really a good thing for a lot of the guys who do a lot of hard work during the year, but don't get a lot of positive self-gratification for it on Saturday," said Saban.

Coach Saban could not have a news conference without reminding the media that his focus would always be going forward, meaning he was preparing for next week's Iron Bowl.

"Our focus obviously need to immediately shift to the opportunities we have created for ourselves and the games we have in the future. Obviously the one that we have this week coming up against Auburn is a very important game," said Saban.

"They have a great team, they've had a great season. It's gonna be important for everyone in our organization to make a commitment to doing their very best job and playing their very best football. That's probably what it's going to take to have success against a very good team," he said.

Next week will be the first Iron Bowl to decide the SEC West and could be a stepping stone to this season's national title. Kickoff on the Iron Bowl is at 2:30 p.m. next Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
