A number of South Georgia youth teams competed Saturday for a spot in the 51st annual Turkey Bowl in Tifton.
Over 70 teams throughout the region registered for the event in ages ranging from 6-12. The championship games will be played next week Monday and Tuesday. Program Director Jeff Howard says the league helps keep the kids involved.
"I think it's real important, its keeps those kids out the streets, keeps them focus," Howard said. "Just to see the kids have a ball, whether they win or not is awesome."
Championship games will be rescheduled for Wednesday is weather proves to be an issue.
