Community raising money for crash victims

EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

The tragic death of Wesley and Garrett Mulligan, and their 3-year-old brother Eli Hickox has left a hole in the hearts of the folks who loved them.

"you  never get over this," said their aunt, Debra Napier. "We'll never in our lives get over this, until we're with them again."

Effingham County Sheriff's office say the three boys died after colliding with a tanker truck at the intersection of Marlow Road and GA 17.

"You see and hear about this in the news, but you never expect it to happen to your family," said their cousin, Lacey Carter.

"It's hard to talk about them. It's hard to even fathom what happened, you know," said Napier.

Napier thanks those out there who've reached out to the family.

"We never ever thought that we would get that much support, and that much help," she said.

Thanks to donations the family has raised more than $46,000 so far, around $3,000 away from their $50,000 goal. Most of the money was donated through gofundme.com: http://www.gofundme.com/5f1xa8

"We thank everybody from the bottom of our heart. There's not enough words to thank everybody," said Napier.

The money will be used to pay for funeral cost for the boys.

For Georgia voters, early voting is officially over as the Georgia Primary is only three days away. Tuesday will see many Georgians heading to the polls to vote for General Primary and Nonpartisan election. "I know that this is an earlier season this year," said Governor Nathan Deal. "We were required  to move our primary dates up." The Governor says that it doesn't matter who you're voting for, as long as you get it done.  "We're a...

The Congress of New Urbanism architects presented their findings from a Legacy Project they've worked on throughout May to the community on what can be done to develop the East side of Savannah on Saturday. One of their main goals is to create a balance between automobiles and pedestrians or bicycles.  "Neighborhoods like the east side are missing their incomplete neighborhoods," said architect and urbanist Dhiru Thadani.
