ATLANTA (AP) - Forecasters say freezing rain is possible in parts of the north Georgia mountains as a massive storm makes its way southeast.
A winter weather advisory will be in effect for nine counties in north Georgia from 7 p.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday.
The advisory includes the cities of Blairsville, Blue Ridge, Chatsworth, Cleveland, Dahlonega, Dawsonville and Jasper.
The National Weather Service says residents should be prepared for a light glaze of ice on elevated surfaces such as bridges, overpasses, trees and wires.
The ice threat is part of a storm system blamed for at least eight deaths in the West. It was expected to bring freezing rain and sleet to parts of Texas as it continued making its way through the Southwest before moving east before of Thanksgiving.
