SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Police said a man who tried to burglarize a home for a second day in a row was arrested last week.

Five burglaries or attempted burglaries had been reported Thursday afternoon near Sea Island Road and Nassau Drive in which prescription drugs and cash were taken.

A victim whose home had been burglarized called Savannah-Chatham Metro Police upon seeing a man behind a neighboring house where burglary attempt had been made the day before. He followed the suspect, told police of his location and they tracked the victim's location using his cellphone call, according to a news release.

Metro police, Patrol South Major Richard Zapal, Islands Precinct Capt. John Best and Islands Precinct Crime Suppression Unit saturated the area.

Nearby May Howard Elementary School was put on lockdown as a precaution, according to police.

Justin Edward Boykin, 27, was arrested and charged with five counts of burglary in the first degree and two counts of criminal attempt at burglary. Police said he had cut his hand while breaking into a house on Nassau Drive.

Islands Precinct detectives recovered the stolen prescription drugs and cash from Boykin's residence.

Detectives continue to investigate the burglaries.
