Suspects sought in Burton home invasion

BURTON, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a home invasion and robbery that occurred Sunday afternoon at a Burton home.

Deputies responded at about 5 p.m. Sunday to an armed robbery at a home on Wellena Court.

Four victims told deputies they had been robbed when three unknown black males who got into the home.

The 59-year-old male homeowner told deputies he had been cooking in the kitchen while his wife and her two friends were playing cards at the dining room table. Then just before 5 p.m. three suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun, came into the house.  

The suspects ordered the homeowner not to move, and the suspects went into the dining room. That's where they took the cash being used in the card game and a victim's purse. The suspects took off and were last seen running across Joe Frazier Road into the woods. No one was injured.

The suspects were described as black males between the ages of 25-30. They were wearing scarves over their faces. One was wearing a white hoodie  and the other two were wearing black hoodies.

The BSCO used K9s to conduct a search of the area. Some of the stolen money was found, but the suspects remain at large, according to the sheriff's office.
