SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The city of Savannah is giving residents a chance to recycle their Thanksgiving cooking oil.

They urge residents to avoid dumping grease down the drain, which can back up drains. More than 70 percent of all sewer blockages in the city are caused by grease.

Residents can bring used cooking oil and grease in sealed containers to the President Street Wastewater Plant on Dec. 2.

For those who cannot drop it off, can let the grease cool and then throw it in the garbage.
