Trial to begin for Talahi woman charged with concealing husband's death

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The case of a Talahi Island woman charged with covering up the death of her husband along with her teenage son is expected to go before a judge Monday.

The jury trial is scheduled to begin for Judith Phelps. There is no word yet on whether or not the judge in her case has results from a medical evaluation ordered. The evaluation may be used as evidence saying she may have what's called, "Battered Person's Syndrome," and this would help with her defense.

Her son, 16-year-old Preston Phelps, entered into a negotiated plea deal with the state, and one condition in the plea deal stated that if Preston is asked to testify in his mother's trial, he must comply.
