Family mourns shooting death

The father of a man shot and killed in Claxton mourned Monday as investigators tried to figure out what happened.

James Mobley, father of Bryan Mobley, tried to figure out why it happened.

"Back when we were coming up, you decided things with your fists and moved on," the father said. "Now, these young people bring guns into it."

The shooting happened just before 2:30 a.m. Monday on Oak Street at a home. Investigators would not say how the home's owner factored into the shooting.

Claxton police told WTOC early Monday they had a person of interest in the case, but were still looking for him as of Monday evening. One of his relatives appealled publicly for him to speak with authorities.

"He needs to turn himself in and talk to them and tell them what happened. None of us were there and we don't know what happened. Truth will prevail," said Verne Joyce, a relative of both Mobley and the suspect.

Mobley's body was taken to the GBI crime lab for autopsy.
