The Irwin County Indians are getting hot at just the right time and are making a run at a state title.
The Indians picked up their sixth straight win Friday night with a quarterfinal blowout victory over Johnson County, 56-26.
The win sends Irwin to the state semifinals for the first time since 1997.
Up next for Jon Lindsey's team: Charlton County, who just blew out previously unbeaten Seminole County in Donalsonville.
But don't expect the Indians to make many changes to the current formula.
Why fix it what isn't broken, figures Lindsey.
"As a program, we're just doing what we do. That's what I told the kids. We're not going to change," he says. "We've won a lot of games with what we're doing. We're real excited, but we're staying focused on Charlton County this week."
The Indians host Charlton County Friday night with a spot in the state championship game on the line.
