EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Robert Christopher Edwards, 24, of Rincon was indicted again today, bringing his total number to ten counts, including aggravated battery, four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of cruelty to children and obstruction of an officer.

Edwards was arrested in August and charged with beating his girlfriend's 2-year-old child.

The indictment says Edwards choked the child, struck her in the face and head multiple times, burned her on the back with what appeared to be a cigarette lighter and hit her with an unknown weapon.

The additional indictments were for the use of the weapon.

The mother, Sabrina Dawn Saunders, 21, of Rincon was also indicted Monday.

Saunders is facing three counts, including cruelty to children, false statements and obstruction of an officer.

The charges are related to an instance two days before the beating happened. Saunders did not seek medical attention for her child after she was injured in an all terrain vehicle accident.

Investigators reported Saunders told them she had taken the child to the hospital.

Others indicted today in Effingham County include Michael Shepard, 38, and Rebekah Shepard, 33, who were indicted on six counts of sexual exploitation of children.

Edward William Holmes, 53, of Savannah, was indicted on five counts of sexual exploitation of children.

George Matthew Vickery, 31, of Savannah, was also indicted on three counts of computer pornography and child exploitation, one count of criminal attempt to commit child molestation and one count of criminal attempt to commit enticing a child for indecent purposes.
