The Chatham County Sheriff's Office has raised money to purchase Christmas gifts for children living in one of Georgia Sheriff's youth homes for over 20 years.
People from the sheriff's office gathered Wednesday to hold a wrap party to wrap all of the presents the office has purchased.
The children in the youth home are children that may have been abused, have parents in jail, may have substance abuse problems or other difficulties. This year the sheriff's office will help 33 children total.
Sheriff Al St. Lawrence is proud of the charitable work his office does.
"Well, you know, they're like that with every undertaking we have, regardless of what it's for, United Way or whatever," he said. "The employees really step up and try to do the right thing for people."
On Saturday, many of the employees and their families will make the trip to Hahira to hand deliver the gifts to the children.
