BCSO: Missing Hilton Head Island woman found safe

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says a Hilton Head Island woman reported missing by her boyfriend Friday morning has been located.

Authorities say Melissa Anne Healy, 40, was reported missing by her boyfriend who became concerned after receiving a text message from Healy alluding self-harm. 

According to BCSO, Healy was last seen at approximately 8 a.m. Friday by her boyfriend when he left for work. A short time later, he received a text message from her that led him to return to their shared apartment at Ocean Walk Villas on Lemoyne Ave to check on her. After discovering she was gone, he then contacted the Sheriff's Office.

Healy was found safe on Hilton Head by Beaufort County sheriff's deputies Friday sometime before noon.
