Savannah is just one of 12 cities across the federal getting grant money to help uninsured children and families.
Step Up Savannah told WTOC that the $30,000 grant will help with the Peachcare and Medicaid programs. They said the goal is to reduce the number of uninsured children to about $2500 well down from the $5,100 currently uninsured.
Twenty-five cities applied for the grant only three southern states were qualified.
