Statesboro man charged with murder in Savannah shooting

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Statesboro man has been charged with murder in the Oct. 19 shooting death of Audie W. Murphy in Savannah.

Jemari Dyquwann Carter, 20, was arrested in Statesboro on Thursday in Statesboro on warranted taken by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police homicide detectives.

Carter has been held in the Chatham county Detention Center. He has admitted his part in the shooting.

Murphy, 25, was found at approximately 8 a.m. on the ground behind the New Covenant Holiness Church in the lane of the 900 block of East Duffy Street. He had multiple gunshot wounds.

Metro detectives are continuing to investigate the homicide.
