SCMPD investigates rash of weekend crimes

Savannah-Chatham Metro police are investigating two homicides and various shootings that happened over the weekend that left three people hospitalized and two dead. 

At around 1 a.m. Saturday, police found Rashann Baker, 16, in the street on the 700 block of West 42nd with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to Memorial where he is currently listed in critical condition. 

At 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning, police found 57-year-old Moses Mack dead in his bed with head trauma in the 800 block of East Anderson Street.

Then Saturday at 11:30 p.m., police say Hector Brown, 36, Fred Stringer, 34, and Jerome Polite, 33, were shot at by someone in a pick-up truck after leaving a party on 39th Street. All three men were taken to the hospital where Brown later died. 

Investigators do not believe the crimes are related. In each case police say the victims and suspects knew each other.
