GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenwood County deputies said a local elementary school gifted and talented teacher is accused of filling and using her son's Adderall prescriptions illegally for two years.

Deputies said they were contacted by the woman's ex-husband about the prescription drug abuse because he was paying for his son's two prescriptions for a year, but when he asked if he was taking them, he said no.

The man told police that his ex-wife, 44-year-old April Mack, filled the prescriptions monthly and his son said she sometimes took the pills for headaches, according to the incident report.

Deputies said drug enforcement officers went to talk to Mack's son who said he had not taken the pills since he was in the eighth grade though he is now in the 10th grade. The report said he had them for about a year before he stopped taking the medicine.

Investigators then went to Pinecrest Elementary School where deputies said she teaches to speak with her. According to the report, Mack initially denied taking or selling the pills but then changed her story to say she does take them.

Mack said she had not taken them in a long time but she fills them and uses them to keep her going and help get up in the mornings, according to the report. Deputies arrested Mack on drug charges.

FOX Carolina is working to contact the school district for more information about her employment status. According to the school's website, Mack is a Gifted and Talented teacher and has taught with Greenwood School District 50 for 18 years.

Pamela Young of the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office said that Mack has been charged with violating drug distribution laws.
