People in Long County were celebrating Thursday night with a ribbon cutting, tours, a band performance and a student work showcase at the brand new Long County High School in Ludowici.
The new school is located on GA-57 .
It's a big deal for students and staff and the whole community.
"we have bigger classrooms, more available to us for out students," said Destiny Walker, special education department head. "We have our own offices to where we can bring our students in to help test or work with them one on one instead of sharing certain rooms. It has allowed for more opportunities for our students to have, and it's more accommodating for the students and faculty to provide for our students' education. "
The $17 million dollar school was paid for with money from the Educational Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.
