Little Neck Rd back open after early morning collision

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Officials have reopened Little Neck Road after a serious head-on collision Friday morning that sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. on Little Neck Rd near New Hampstead High School involving an SUV and a truck. Both of the drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles and were transported to the hospital by Southside Fire/EMS with serious injuries. One other passenger was in one of the vehicles but was treated at the scene and released. 

The wreck had a portion of Little Neck Rd completely closed to traffic in both directions from John Carter Rd to New Hampstead High for close to two hours. Officials reopened the road at 9 a.m.

Savannah-Chatham Metro has confirmed that there were no students involved in the crash.

The wreck is under investigation.
